SKYLARK CABIN

Nestled in the grassland of Twizel, New Zealand, the Skylark Cabin is a modest retreat design to take advantage of the area’s dramatic landscapes. The home is comprised of two volumes, each clad in blackened Siberian larch with contrasting orange framing. Internally, walls and ceilings are lined with warm wood panels. Thoughtfully placed glazing integrates the surrounding scenery into the interior, framing in views of the Black Hills, Backbone Peak, and the Ben Ohau range. Located in one of the world’s largest Dark Sky Reserves, circular skylights showcase the night-time vistas overhead.
