Opened in 1927, the S. Charles Lee-designed Tower Theatre was the first to be equipped for talking pictures and held the sneak preview for¬†The Jazz Singer.¬†Although it officially closed in 1988, the landmark property will reopen tomorrow as the newest Apple Store. The historic Baroque Revival-style building and its terra-cotta exterior with iconic clock tower have been completely restored. The Paris Opera House-inspired interior houses Apple’s forum in the main auditorium with the video wall mounted between the original balconies. Retail space is located throughout the theater, placing the company’s latest innovations among preserved bronze embellishments, ornate arches, and a restored stained-glass window. The location will also host Today at Apple sessions with an initiative for young creatives in the community.
